Private tutor in Cedar City, UT

Education

Senior Elementary/Special Education Major with a concentration in Mathematics with a 3.95 GPA at Southern Utah University

Experience

Tutored ages 6-18 in Montebello, CA, Long Beach, CA, and Cedar City, UT of different abilities, from advanced and gifted placement to special education. SAT Score: 1750 ACT Score: 27 I have passed all Praxis tests required for Elementary and Special Education Teaching License except the PLT, which I haven't taken yet. I want to help children succeed. It kills me when a teacher doesn't know how to offer a different view on a subject or doesn't have the time to help a child succeed. I don't want a child to fall behind just because they seem to be a number. Learning is essential in today/s society. Every child should have a chance. I have taken classes that are specifically related to teaching mastery in reading and mathematics. I have taken ACT and SAT preparation classes. I have taken classes for special education adaptations. I have volunteered under occupational therapists to aid students with Autism. I have done over 200 hours of volunteer service in elementary, middle, and high schools in Cedar City. I have also been the leader of two major charity fundraisers for the athletic department at SUU for the past two years.

Hobbies

I love sports. I follow professional football and basketball. I currently play volleyball at Southern Utah University. I also have many other hobbies including sewing, knitting, baking, painting, and balloon art. I love to be active and work out, but I also love to enjoy the beauty of nature. I like to relate my teaching to my experiences that may relate to the student. Real life experiences help a child understand from a more common ground perspective of what the information is trying to portray. I also have a passion for helping children with special needs. I aspire to be an occupational therapist some day and form my own nonprofit organization that helps assimilate children with autism to the outside world to help them succeed.
