Experience

I previously worked at South Elementary School as a Reading Interventionist for the Reading Literacy center for three years, where I worked with studetns to improve reading levels. I have tutored students through mentorships with math, reading, and science up to grade 8. SAT 1660. Passed AP English Literacy and Comp. When I graduate I want to be a Special Education teacher where I will be able to work with students. I want to be able to use whatever strategies necessary to ensure that the students will improve and learn the material. I know that I will be able to help any student that I come in contact with through my experience in tutoring for years and my experience through my major. I will be able to enrich the material for students in a way that the information will last. The tutoring experience will be a rigorous, enjoyable, and energetic experience for the student. I know that I will be able to create a kind of atmosphere that each individual student needs to ensure their success. Since I am a Special Education major I have been able to be involved in many teaching courses that have taught me to be able to tutor and teach students the following are just a few of the many courses that I have benefited from: Curriculum Strategies,Applied Behavior Analysis and Management, Literacy Assessment and Instruction, Educational Psychological, Educating Diverse Population, Chemistry 1010, Math 1050, Psychology 1010, Educating Exceptional Students, Nutrition 1020, and Human Development 1500. I was a Resident Assistant for a year and a half for Southern Utah University Housing where I planned, developed, and implemented guidelines, and activities for residents. I met with residents individually to problem solve and find solutions for any of their needs. Weekly, I collaborated with a team to find resolutions to create the best atmosphere for the residents. Through this experience I have been able to work with many different students with different backgrounds and ethnicities. *Willing to discuss hourly rate.

Hobbies

I am a very energetic person who is able to motivate students who are currently struggling with their education. Because I am young I have the time and energy to seek out necessary learning tools and strategies to ensure that my students will succeed. Being a Special Education major has required me to work with students who are struggling as well as students who are excelling and need to be pushed. Within the last 5 years I have taken both the SAT and the ACT wehre I have taken courses on how to prep for these tests. I know that no matter what your child struggles with, or needs specific instruction on, or needs prepping for I will be able to help them succeed. There is nothing more that I enjoy then working with students. I am a very well organized, reliable person who will ensure that your child will get the best instruction that I can offer them each time we meet. I am very confident in creating an atmosphere where your student will enjoy learning and become engaged with the information.
